Here is one wedding from 2019 with a personal connection. Are these more difficult to photograph?, maybe. It’s very natural and a joy for me to connect with my couples on their wedding day, and even their families who for the most part I meet for the first time. At this urban downtown wedding just a couple of miles from my home already gave it a familiarity. Then it was a hilarious mental task for me to try view the couple and some of their guests as subjects and not the friends or good acquaintances that they were. Eventually all that was behind me, as I tapped into what this day was for them. The gathering of friends for such an intimate wedding provided me with the inspiration to capture it like I promised the couple I would, genuine and truthfully.
