George Mavitzis Photography | Montreal wedding and stepping back for a moment.

The wedding day has many ways of unfolding. For me it's never routine. I feed off the couple and the families and key to this is stepping back and letting the moments take their course. The guidance I provide is very well received but it's what I don't do that allows for this to happen. Let's just say that a "second shooter" may have prevented this from happening. There's a time and place for everything but "shooting" everything is not my approach.

George Mavitzis Photography | A designer and an espresso in Little Italy

9am on a Thursday and The Boulevard is just coming to life. The early morning vibe of the city and the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air - both deliciously intoxicating. Little Italy. The perfect spot for a quick espresso before my shoot. How can one resist?

My subject this morning, Antoinette Di Carlo, is an haute couture garment designer by profession. Her atelier sits at the very heart of Little Italy. Beautiful creations, without a doubt. You see passion and originality. A very fine example of the elegant, classy and modern. These dresses definitely take center stage. But for a change, today's casual photo session wasn't only going to be about the dresses. They would have to be content to sit back and share the spotlight with the person that gave them life, the artist behind the creations, Antoinette.

I guess it was a combination of the sun-drenched morning, the smells of Little Italy, and the ease with which Antoinette drifted through her atelier, lovingly attending to her creations while I snapped away, which brought a smile to my face. To take joy in the simple pleasures of life: a casual photo session, a sunny morning and ...an espresso.

Antoinette will be displaying her beautiful dresses at the Bridal Boudoir Affair, this upcoming Sunday.
